Corn dogs an American snack mostly sold on the game days or on the streets. It is easy to make. It is popular in kids. An ideal snack when you have kids get together.
For today's weather, these corn dogs were a hit with the boys. I fried few chips on the side. It was a hit!
Makes 12
Time: 35 minutes
1 cup plain flour
1 cup polenta
1 tbs caster sugar
1/2 salt
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg beaten
3 tbs honey
1 cup + more water or milk
2 tsp vinegar
12 hot dogs
12 skewers
oil for frying
Method
Mix the batter ingredients ( plain flour to vinegar ) very well. Let it sit for few minutes so that the polenta can swell up. Once swollen, add some more milk/water and stir again.
Dust the hot dogs with little plain flour and skewer the skewers in. I had given that part to my son to do as we were preparing them for him and his play date.
Heat the oil, dip the hot dogs in the batter and tip them in the hot oil and fry them till golden and crisp. Remove from the oil and let them cook a bit before serving.
Serve the corn dogs with tomato ketchup and mustard sauce.
