SOFT PRETZELS


SOFT PRETZELS 

Make your own pretzels at home. Easy recipe. Children love them. 


Makes 10-12
Time: 35-40 minutes



2 1/4 cups plain flour
3 tsp yeast
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup warm water
3 tbs melted butter


Method


Mix the ingredients and knead into a soft sticky dough. Add a bit of more flour if needed while kneading. Grease the bowl and leave the dough to rise for 1 hour.

Punch the dough down then roll and cut into strips about 6 to 8 ( depending on the size and how many you want).I made about 12.

Roll it into long shapes with your palms and twist the end points then bring it in the middle and keep it on the baking paper.

Now boil 4 cups of water with 1 tsp of salt. Once in rolling stage add baking soda. It will bubble up, therefore, reduce the heat.

Now take one pretzel at a time and dip in hot soda water for 15 to 20 seconds (you'll see it'll fluff) and then romove and keep it in the baking tray.

Bake in preheated oven at 200'C until golden brown. This will take about 20 to 25 minutes. Cool it on wire rack. Brush the pretzels with melted butter and sprinkle some rock or sea salt on top.

Serve it on its own or with good mustard on the side.
