HAM AND CHEESE PUFF PASTRY

Puff pastry, there is so much you can do with it. Use it for savoury, sweet, breakfasts, tarts, quiches whatever you may like. I used the puff pastry to make a very simple snack for my son the other day. All I used are cheese and ham slices. They are great for children's snacks and for breakfast. You can even stuff with scrambled eggs and sausage meat.

Serves 2
Time: 20 minutes

1 sheet puff pastry ( cut into square and cut diagonally in half)
2 slices ham halved
4 slices cheese halved
Salt and pepper
1 egg lightly beaten

Method

Roll the pastry to 1/8th inch. Cut into two triangles. Arrange one half of ham first as shown in the picture then, the two half slices of cheese then the other half of ham slice.

Brush the edges with beaten butter. Fold the pastry and using the fork seal the edges.

Brush the top of the pastries with beaten egg and using a sharp knife make designs on it. Always brush the egg wash first and then make the slits.

sprinkle some salt and pepper and bake in 190'C  for 15 to 20 minutes till all puffed up and golden in colour.

Serve it cold/hot with ketchup on the side. On the other hand, you can always freeze them without baking. To bake, just bake in preheated oven at 180'C for 20-25 minutes.
